When Heaven Sends Messages: Exploring the Evidence

In 2009, my mother was diagnosed with ALS which is Luke Garrick's disease and it was devastating to my family. My mother was always a very social and active woman, and it was very hard for her when the disease started affecting her. We knew something was wrong when she started falling when she walked. As my mother was going through her health journey I started experiencing strange occurrences at night where I'd be woken up in the middle of the night to the phone ringing. The actual physical phone was not ringing it was coming from the spirit realm. This went on for months with me being woken up in the middle of the night to the phone ringing. I didn't understand what was happening, but I knew it was spirit sending me a message.

One thing I'm thankful for during this difficult time is that as a Reiki master I was able to give my mother some comfort by relieving the pain and relaxing her enough that she could sleep at night when she was in palliative care. My mother always used to say that when I did the Reiki on her this was the only time that she slept. The pills that they gave her in the hospital wouldn't take the pain away and she couldn’t sleep so I’m grateful I had the able to help her anyway I could. ALS is a terrible disease and it's very hard to see your loved one go through this. You have to be a very strong person to withstand this disease and my mother was the strongest person I knew.

As it was getting towards the end of my mother's life journey she would tell me that she would have visitors in her room during the night like dogs she had as a child and relatives that had passed. As I was going through my spiritual journey my mother who was raised as a Catholic didn't really believe in the things I was experiencing but as she got close to the end of her life she started seeing spirits in her hospital room she became a believer. During the last couple of weeks before my mother passed away the telephone ringing in the middle of the night intensified and I also started being woken up to hearing my mother call my name. This freaked me out to say the least.

A couple days before my mother passed away I was in my basement on my computer and all of a sudden the four lights in my basement started blinking off and on and I knew it was my grandmother. So I asked my grandmother is my mother going to pass away soon and all of a sudden the lights started going crazy blinking off and on like really, really fast. Of course this upset me but it's almost like the spirit realm was preparing me that it was going to happen soon. During my mother's time in palliative care my whole family was with her 24/7. There was always someone in her room because the nursing staff we're not able to take care of her the way we wanted.

During the last day before my mother passed away we were all in the hospital room with her for many, many hours and I remember my cousin Kelly had come in to see my mother and she said, “why don't you guys come to my place for dinner just to give yourself a bit of a break”. My older brother, his wife at the time and myself went to my cousins for dinner and my father and my uncles stayed with my mother. That night when we returned from my cousins place my brother and his wife stayed over at my house because it was close to the hospital. I remember everyone was getting ready for bed and I had just put my pajamas on and got into bed . As soon as I put my head down on the pillow the physical phone rang and it was my sister-in-law Barbara who informed me that my mother had just passed away. Now it all made sense all those months of when the phone rang from the spiritual realm they were telling me that this is how I was going to find out that my mother had died and I was not meant to be in the room when it happened. To tell you the truth this was a good thing because I don't think I would have been able to handle if I'd been in the room when my mother passed away I think I probably would have lost it.

Over the next couple days with the wake and the funeral everything was kind of a blur it was so busy. I do remember the day of her funeral and going into the church and seeing my mother sitting in the front pew watching to see the people who showed up for her funeral. I remember laughing at this but if you knew my mother that would be something that she definitely would do. I remember after the funeral being so exhausted and coming home and just lying on my couch and falling asleep then I was woken up to seeing this large orb in front of me it must have been 3 feet high and 4 feet across with my physical eyes. I knew it was my mother coming to visit me and I was thankful for it and I knew she was okay.

In all the years that I've been working with spirit I've discovered two things, the first thing is that after a person passes away their energy is very strong for about three weeks and this enables them to visit loved ones or people they cared about. Spirits do this to make sure everyone is okay with their passing and to let them know that they're okay. The second thing I discovered since my mother funeral is that every funeral I've gone to since then the person that has passed away always shows up for their funeral.
